With Dad Out of Power at Time Inc, Brendan Ripp Jumps Ship to National Geographic

Brendan Ripp who quickly rose through the ranks at Time Inc when his dad was CEO, is leaving the company to go run brand revenue for National Geographic. He is leaving his role at Time Inc as President of technology, telecommunications and financial verticals (did you get that?). Before that he served as group publisher of the Sports Illustrated Group. Mr. Ripp's departure comes on the heels of his father stepping down as CEO of Time Inc for medical reasons. Rich Battista was named CEO just 22 days ago. Just days after his big promotion Mr. Battista elevated Time Inc's head of digital Jen Wong to COO making her his second in command. With sales recently centralized under revenue chief Mark Ford, perhaps Brendan Ripp wanted less layers above him. He starts his new gig at the Fox owned National Geographic on November 1st where he will be charged with running brand revenue across all platforms, including National Geographic Channels, digital, social, mobile and print.
