Deborah Needleman, Editor in Chief of T: The New York Times Magazine is Out Following a Decline in Advertising and Rumored Tensions

DEBORAH NEEDLEMAN
New York Times' executive editor Dean Baquet probably won't have a quiet holiday season because he's now tasked with finding a new editor in chief for T: The New York Times Magazine. Deborah Needleman who has been at the helm for 4 years is leaving the publication. While Mr. Baquet and his team conduct an internal and external search for a replacement, executive editor Whitney Vargas will step in as editor in chief. As far as where Ms. Needleman is headed next, well that all depends on what kind of scenery she's in the mood for as she will be spending some time traveling. Deborah Needleman's departures follows a decline in advertising  for the glossy. In addition, Ms. Needleman's decision to leave may be more than just a desire to travel. Those in the know claims that there were tensions between Needleman and publisher Elizabeth Webbe Lunny.
