Time Inc Is Latest Publisher to Launch Centralized Digital Newsroom To Take On The Buzzfeeds, Voxes and Vices of the World

Time Inc may currently be the subject of takeover speculations, but inside the company, its business as usual. Following in the footsteps of Hearst Magazines, the company announced the launch of a new centralized digital newsroom which sole purpose is to distribute viral and breaking news across all Time Inc's brands. Like Hearst, this is the latest effort by Time Inc to compete with digital native brands like Buzzfeed, Vice, Vox and others. The new digital newsroom unit will be overseen by 10 individuals as desk leaders who all have a background in the various areas that Time Inc's publications exist in such as entertainment, technology, fashion etc. The division will be lead by Time Inc.’s group digital director Edward Felsenthal and Will Lee.
Desk leaders include People’s Sarah Nathan (celebrity), Entertainment Weekly’s Christopher Rosen (entertainment), Cooking Light’s Stacey Rivera, Health’s Theresa Tamkins (health), Real Simple’s Laura Schocker and Coastal Living’s Steele Marcoux (home and real estate), Sports Illustrated’s Mark McClusky (sports), People’s Andrea Lavinthal (style & beauty), Fortune’s Andrew Nusca (technology) and Travel + Leisure’s Miles Stiverson (travel and luxury).
