TRONC RECENTLY ACQUIRED THE DAILY MEAL AND THE ACTIVE TIMES
Tronc, the newspaper publishing company formerly known as Tribune Publishing continues its hunt for digital properties to help boost its digital footprint. Earlier this year Tronc acquired Spanfeller Media which publishes The Daily Meal and The Active Times. Now the powers that be at Tronc is on the hunt again and rumor has it that they have their eyes on TheStreet which is the financial news website founded by Jim Cramer and TheWrap the entertainment news site founded by Sharon Waxman. The Street has been hitting pot holes lately. The company was issued a delisting notice from Nasdaq due to its poor stock performance. On top of that, the company recently laid off a dozen staffers as part of a "makeover" effort under new CEO David Callaway. But all is not gloomy at TheStreet. The company is said to have some money on hand and perhaps Mr. Callaway was brought in to get things in order for a sale, cue Tronc?
