Former Bloomberg Businessweek Editor Ellen Pollock Installed as Editor of NY Times' Business Day

ELLEN POLLOCK
Remember Ellen Pollock? You know the former editor of  Bloomberg Businessweek who at the time of her appointment to that role was told by Bloomberg LLP boss Mike Bloomberg not to "F--k it up". Well we're not sure if she did in fact "f---k up" but five months ago she was relieved of her duties due to some changes being made at the publication that she apparently didn't fit into. But don't feel sorry for Ms. Pollock because she just landed what some would say is a bigger role leading NY Times' business coverage as Editor of Business Day. She is taking over from Dean Murphy who was promoted last month to an Associate Editor of the NY Times. Newspapers are nothing new to Ms. Pollock. Right before she joined Businessweek she was the deputy page one editor at the Wall Street Journal.

Said NY Times Executive Editor Dean Baquet, Managing Editor Joseph Kahn and Dep. Managing Editor Rebecca Blumenstein in a join memo:
“Ellen has a rare mix of skills that suits the mission and importance of our business, finance, media, tech and economics coverage. Both as a reporter and editor at The Wall Street Journal and then at Businessweek, she has proven herself a master of business storytelling. She is also a fierce competitor on the newsiest stories of the moment, from corporate fraud to technology-led disruption of traditional industries. She has a magazine editor’s sensibility for memorable takeouts, and the drive to be fast, clear and compelling on the most important news.”
