TIME INC SALE TALKS CONTINUE TO MOVE AT A GLACIAL PACE
At this rate the very massive AT&T/Time Warner deal may happen before the very tiny Time Inc deal. Talks to buy Time Inc. continue to drag on and several sources think that the suitors are waiting to see how the first quarter stacks up when the publisher of People, Time, Sports Illustrated, Fortune and InStyle reports results on May 2.

VERIZON'S CEO SAYS HE'S OPEN TO A MERGER WITH EITHER DISNEY, COMCAST OR CBS
Verizon CEO Lowell McAdam said he'd be open to having merger discussions with Comcast, Disney, or CBS, according to a report in Bloomberg News quoting McAdam. The comments appeared to contradict comments that the Verizon CEO made in a separate interview on Tuesday.

CONDE NAST LAUNCHES ITS NEW MARKETING CAMPAIGN HIGHLIGHTING THE YOUNGER TALENT AT THE COMPANY
Called “Condé Nast Next Gen,” the campaign draws on the publisher’s 22 titles and is meant to show advertising partners that the company is leading the conversation in print and digital. “Next Gen,” which will appear across video, mobile, display and social, was created by chief marketing officer Pamela Drucker Mann, along with head of the Condé Nast creative group, Raul Martinez, and Alex Grossman.

SNAP INC'S STOCK IS GETTING NO LOVE
Initial public offerings are exciting, and the one for Snap was no different. A flashy new tech issue with a large youthful following and the potential for a big run-up in its shares were just a few reasons investors clamored for its stock. It promised to end the tech IPO drought, and it seems to have delivered on all counts. For a short time, anyway.

MARKETING PROFESSOR SCOTT GALLOWAY RIPS SNAP INC
Investing in Snapchat is something that no one responsible should ever do. Snapchat is the equivalent of driving drunk. When you buy a share of Snapchat you're giving a 26-year-old money with absolutely no recourse. No shareholder rights whatsoever and you're investing in a company whose losses exceed its top-line and also has probably the world's most agile and competent company in the world — Facebook has decided that they will kill Snapchat no matter what.

FACEBOOK'S 10 YEAR PLAN TO DOMINATE THE WORLD STILL STANDS
At this year's F8 conference, taking place this week, Zuckerberg doubled down on the company's ambitious 10-year master plan, which was first revealed in 2016. According to this timeline, Facebook expects to turn artificial intelligence, ubiquitous internet connectivity, and virtual and augmented reality into viable parts of its business over the next decade.

FACEBOOK BOSS MARK ZUCKERBERG WANTS TO REPLACE YOUR SCREENS WITH GLASSES
If Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg has his way, you'll never have to buy a gadget with a screen again. Instead, you'll be using a pair of augmented reality (AR) glasses or even contacts in the future in order to place digital content on top of any surface.

WASHINGTON POST SETS ADVERTISING SPEED THRESHOLD FOR AD TECH VENDORS
It’s hard for publishers to say no to vendors that advertisers want to work with. But in its effort to speed up advertising, The Washington Post has had to rethink its use of vendors. As the Post has built on its own proprietary ad products, it has cut out several of the ad servers, ad builders, native-ad and video vendors it used to work with.

FOX NEWS IN TALKS TO SEVER TIES WITH BILL O'REILLY
Fox News will no longer even respond to questions about whether Bill O'Reilly will return to his show. A well-placed source said Tuesday afternoon that representatives for Fox and O'Reilly have begun talking about an exit. But this prompted a denial from sources in O'Reilly's camp.

NETFLIX TROLLS HULU ON TWITTER
A lesson for rivals: Don’t call out Netflix on Twitter. Hulu attempted to take a jab at the streaming kingpin by cheerfully tweeting an ad that contained all of its content which doesn’t also appear on Netflix.

PUBLISHERS ARE OPTIMISTIC ABOUT TRAFFIC + SUBSCRIPTION GROWTH FROM APPLE NEWS
If publishers are down on Facebook Instant Articles, they’re increasingly effusive about Apple News as a platform partner. Apple News, a pre-installed app on Apple phones and tablets, has long been the distant No. 3 in platform publishing initiatives. Introduced in 2015, Apple News didn’t elicit the kind of excitement Facebook got with IA and Google with its Accelerated Mobile Pages.

SNAP INC INTRODUCES NEW "WORLD" LENSES
Snap Inc. announced new lenses, or augmented reality overlays, Tuesday that Snapchat users can use to "paint the world" or create a 3D experience on a photo. Previously, users could put lenses, such as dog face, over their own face in a selfie or with one other person. The move comes on the same day as Facebook Inc.'s developer conference. Facebook's Instagram has been taking aim at Snap, with the expanded roll-out of its Instagram Stories, which in terms of daily active users.

MICROSOFT'S FORMER CEO STEVE BALLMER LANCHES WEBSITE TO TRACK GOVERNMENT SPENDING
What if the U.S. government had to file a 10-K, an annual report that provides a comprehensive summary of a company’s financial performance? It was that curiosity which led Steve Ballmer to launch USAFacts, a comprehensive database on the American population, government finances and their impact on society.

FLIPBOARD OPENS UP ITS DIGITAL MAGAZINES TO VIDEO ADS
Flipboard, the magazine-style app that got its start with the original Apple iPad, has been through a number of iterations in the years since its launch.
