AD REVENUE QUADRUPLES YEAR OVER YEAR

New York; November 3, 2014 - Quartz, the global digital business news publication, continues to break traffic and revenue records. In October, Quartz attracted a record 10.9 million unique visitors, a growth of 146% year over year and surpassing its previous record (set in August, 2014) by 59%. Quartz co-presidents, Editor in Chief Kevin Delaney and Publisher Jay Lauf released the audience numbers today.

“We’re continuing to improve the Quartz product and invest to expand our staff of journalists globally,” said Mr. Delaney. “The acceleration in our growth shows how that’s resonating with business readers.”

Quartz continues to enjoy revenue growth as well with a quadrupling -- or 300% growth -- of advertising revenues year over year through the month of October.

“In just two years, we have worked with more than eighty blue chip advertisers and underwriters, validating our model for advertising, which is to deliver content that contributes to, rather than distracts, from the Quartz experience, “ said Mr. Lauf.

Since its debut on September 24, 2012, Quartz’s rapid growth has continued through two redesigns, the latest of which included a new concept for a homepage; the launch of Quartz India last summer; and the extension of its Next Billion event series to new cities. (The latest installment gets underway this week in New York.) Quartz’s popular email newsletter, the Daily Brief, has more than 95,000 subscribers. And the brand’s overall content and business model continue to garner praise and attention from others in the media marketplace.

Quartz is continuing a wave of hiring that once complete will have added more than 20 new staff to its ranks in the second half of 2014. Among them: Paul Smalera, formerly of The New York Times, joins this week as Ideas Editor.
