Former Time Inc Editorial Chief Martha Nelson is Now Yahoo's Media Chief After Just 2 Months on The Job

Martha Nelson who landed at Yahoo as Global Editor in Chief after leaving Time Inc, is now Yahoo's media chief as well. Ms. Nelson was brought in by former Marketing/Media Chief Kathy Savitt who left the company almost month ago. Just 2 months on the Job and Ms. Nelson is now in charge of media content including video for the ailing internet company. Her promotion comes after an exodus of top execs at the company and as CEO Marissa Mayer is under heavier scrutiny for a questionable strategy.
With Nelson in charge of Yahoo’s overall content strategy, it appears Mayer wants to redouble its focus on targeted, vertical “digital magazines,” such as Yahoo Style, Yahoo Travel, Yahoo Tech and Yahoo Food. On the video front, the company has been upping short-form original content produced for the magazine destinations. Nelson was the founding editor of InStyle, leading the title from 1993-2002. Her subsequent stints at Time Inc. included managing editor of People, group editor of style and entertainment group, and editorial director of Time Inc.
