Tribune Publishing Chairman Defiant, Says Tribune Will Buy Gannett, Gannett's LOL

Tribune Publishing chairman Michael Ferro doesn't like the idea of being man handled into selling to the biggest newspaper publisher in the U.S. even if his newspapers are struggling right now. He is so defiant, some would say he's even bordering on delusional based on the math alone.

From Ken Doctor:

“I am going to bid on Gannett,” he told the group, according to a confidential source. “I have lawyers working on it.”

This bravado will likely meet skepticism in the industry, and among Tribune’s shareholders: Gannett is showing a market value of $1.84 billion today. That’s without whatever substantial premium any would-be raider would have to ante up.
