Is Time Inc's Content Chief Norm Pearlstine In Negotiations to Step Aside?

A Major change in the upper echelons of Time Inc could be in the works. According to Vanity Fair, Chief Content Officer Norm Pearlstine could be headed for the exit or at least stepping out of his current role and into a consulting one. This would mark the end of Mr. Pearlstine's second tour at Time Inc. First as Editor in Chief and then as Chief Content Officer. Two names being mentioned as possible replacements for Mr. Pearlstine are current Fortune editor Alan Murray and Time deputy managing editor Michael Duffy.

A spokesperson for Time Inc. noted that Pearlstine would not be leaving the company entirely, but did not specify a future role: “As a public company, our Board of Directors is required to evaluate succession plans for all key managers. If you wrote that we made a succession decision for Norm Pearlstine, you would be wrong. There is no discussion about Norm leaving the company.” Someone close to the situation, however, noted that Pearlstine and Ripp had been devising this transition for months, and that Pearlstine’s future role will focus on Time Inc.’s international business prospects. (Pearlstine's total compensation for 2015 was $2.3 million.)
