Time Inc CEO Joe Ripp May Have to Pry Fortune Magazine Out of Content Chief Allan Murray's Hands

TIME INC CHIEF CONTENT OFFICER/EDITOR IN CHIEF OF FORTUNE ALLAN MURRAY
Whats up with Time Inc Content Chief Allan Murray not wanting to relinquish his role of editor in chief of Fortune magazine? When Mr. Murray was promoted, the announcement said that he would remain in his role at Fortune until a replacement was found. But for a while after that, the company stopped searching for a replacement and Mr. Murray informed Fortune's staff that he was staying put. But now, Mr. Murray is saying that he will "probably" stay on through the middle of next year which again, doesn't really shine light on when he will actually step aside if at all. Apparently Mr. Murray is taking note from Conde Nast's artistic director Anna Wintour who still serves as Editor in Chief of Vogue. Hey! If the man can handle both jobs, then let him have at it and save the money.
There doesn't seem to be a consensus, among Fortune staff, on why Mr. Murray is sticking around. "What I can say is that he really, really loves the brand and I'm not sure he wants to let it go," said the individual. "I don't know how long he can maintain both gigs, but they might have to pry the magazine out of his hands."
