Frustrated By Time Inc's Lack of Attention and Funding For Her Websites, Jane Pratt Is Exiting

Jane Pratt who joined Time Inc just a year ago, will be leaving the company at the end of the year. When she joined the company, she brought along her growing website XoJane.com which became part of Time Inc's short lived InStyle Collection stable of sites. But now the one time magazine editor is leaving and taking the website with her. But until she finds a new home, Time Inc will redirect all traffic to XoJane to InStyle.com. According to WWD, Ms. Pratt has pitched her website to leading digital media companies like Vice, Bustle, Goop and even to investment groups like Elevation Partners but so far no bite.
According to sources at the company, Pratt had grown frustrated with Time Inc.’s management of the brands. During Time Inc.’s restructuring, the sites had been largely left alone without much investment or attention from the company. Regardless, organic traffic numbers and engagement continued to grow, which has made the properties valuable for Time Inc.
