Female Focused Bustle Is Building Up a $12 Million Politics Machine

Bustle, the $200 million female focused website has raised $12 million and they plan to use most of that money to build a sizable politics focused team to capitalize on the election of Donald Trump and the new obsession with all things politics. This expansion into politics comes behind the company's move into new 34,000 square feet digs and the hiring of Erica Tremblay from Hearst to lead Bustle's all female video team of nine creators as well as strategy for all video projects for Bustle.
The Series D funding round was led by prior investor GGV Capital and brings the total amount of money raised by the site to $50.5 million over the past 3½ years. The latest investment lifted the company to a post-money valuation of just under $200 million, a person familiar with the matter said. Launched in 2013, Bustle has developed a firm footing with young females, with 42 % of its 31.2 million readers in February being women under the age of 34, according to comScore Inc.
