After More Than Two Decades at Fox News, Sexual Harassment Allegations Bring's Bill O'Reilly's Run to a Disgraceful End

This afternoon Fox News parent 21st Century Fox (21CF) announced that their top cable news host Bill O'Reilly who is currently on vacation will not be returning to the network. The decision to part ways with O'Reilly follows multiple sexual harassment allegations that lead to some $13 million in settlement payments. 21CF CEO James Murdoch was the first to make up his mind that O'Reilly needed to go. But his older brother who is Co-Executive Chairman and his father Rupert who is Executive Chairman were both on the fence. Fox News has been soaked in sex scandals since last year when CEO/Chairman Roger Ailes was removed due to sexual allegations from former Fox Newser Gretchen Carlson and others. The cable network clearly has some serious issues that many believe isn't over. For the rest of this week the top rated "O'Reilly Factor' will continue with guest hosts. But come Monday, the show will be replaced by rising Fox News star Tucker Carlson at 8pm. Fox News and parent company 21CF tried to throw money at what was clearly a serious situation where one of their top talents was being accused of sexual harassment. This development today only comes because NY Times broke news of the settlements paid out by the company.  If that article was never published, perhaps Bill O'Reilly would be returning to his show on Monday. Many are wondering why it took so long for the Murdoch's to reach this conclusion. Many don't see it as a close call that needed debating. Bill O'Reilly's exit is the latest in some high profile departures from the top rated Fox News. Gretchen Carlson was followed out the door by Megyn Kelly and Greta Van Susteren both of whom now work at NBC News, a Fox News rival. Whether this is the end of the sexual harassment drama at Fox News is not known. This behavior seems to be a widespread thing that 21CF shareholders should be very concerned about, which we're sure they are.
