As Expected, Vibe Magazine Has Died, Jobs Lost, Print No Longer Part of Spin Media Strategy Going Forward

Urban pop culture magazine Vibe has gone through many different owners over the years. Its current owner Spin Media which has been struggling to get its footing and has burned through four CEOs in the past 2 years, has decided to pull the plug on Vibe's print edition. Rumors of this first surfaced when Spin purchased the magazine back in 2013. Naturally at the time  said rumors were shot down by Spin's leadership, but everyone knew it was inevitable. Spin Media's current and 5th CEO Stephen Blackwell hinted at this when he first was first appointed, and officially confirmed it in a phone call with CapitalNY.

Said Mr. Blackwell:
"When I look at what was going on here prior to my tenure, I think that some of the resources...if we're directing resources toward print, that intrinsically means that we're directing resources away from digital. I'm here to commit to directing all of our resources toward the digital side of Vibe."
