Yahoo!'s "Dorky" Purple Brand Color is Cause of Fights Between Top Editors and Company Executives

Style EIC Joe Zee and Beauty EIC Bobbi Brown have been trying to convince Yahoo! brass to ditch the dated purple brand color its been using since its founding

Yahoo! has a new problem on its hands. Two of its high profile editors, Joe Zee who leads Yahoo! Style and Bobbi Brown who leads Yahoo! Beauty, are annoyed that visitors to their respective verticals have to put up with Yahoo!'s ugly purple brand color. Both editors are trying to talk the company leadership into changing its brand color or at least cutting back on the color use because its  dated and "Dorky" and anchors the company to its old techie days which it is trying to move away from. But so far Yahoo!'s leadership isn't biting. It is no secret that CEO Marissa Mayer is remaking the company into a media giant, but after just giving the company logo a nip and tuck which wasn't received well, Ms. Mayer may be reluctant to touch it again. Then again, this time she can probably overpay some branding agency to refresh the company identity. They do have the money. After all, it is said that Ms. Mayer could drop up to $10 billion to buy Snapchat.
